What is the Surgery Pod?

The Surgery Pod is a secure computer system which enables patients without clinical supervision to perform their own checks such as blood pressure, weight, pulse, alcohol consumption which are instantaneously updated onto your patient record. The results can be viewed immediately, and any results out of range will be flagged to the GP. Please note that this is not a replacement for your Doctor or Nurse, but an addition to the practice.

Why do we have the Surgery Pod and why should you use it?

The Surgery Pod maximises the time spent with your GP as all routine questions and measurements will be available in advance of your appointment. Patients can take control over their own health and track progress through using the Surgery Pod.

When should patients use the Surgery Pod?

No appointments are needed to use the Surgery Pod. This allows flexibility for patients to utilise at their convenience. We would recommend using the Surgery Pod prior to your appointment to maximise discussion time with the GP.

What can you do on the Surgery Pod?

• Take your blood pressure
• Take your weight and calculate your BMI
• Enter information regarding your lifestyle, e.g. smoking status, alcohol consumption, diet and exercise.
• Carry out questionnaires e.g. chronic kidney disease, anxiety, stress and pill checks among many others.

The Surgery Pod is simple and easy to use but if you have difficulty, please speak to a member of staff. For any results out of range, the GP will be notified and you will be instructed to book an appointment – please note, this appointment does not need to be the same day as using the Pod.
